NOTES & TRIVIA |
Early shipments accidentally contained the album version of the song "My Bologna," as opposed to the intended original Capitol single version. Later shipments were corrected, making the "error" version a collector's item. While it was still in business, Scotti Bros. would happily mail out a correct "Disc One" to those who purchased the wrong one and wrote in.
In the booklet, Al is finally credited with producing "Another One Rides The Bus" and "My Bologna" (Al's 1983 debut album credited Rick Derringer as the producer for all of the tracks including "Bus," while the "Bologna" and "Bus" singles did not credit Al as the songs' producer).
From late 1994 to sometime in 1995, Close Personal Friends of Al offered the booklet for sale as a separate item for the benefit of fans who had already accumulated a large Al collection prior to the box set's release.
Shipments prior to 1997 featured a pink sticker on the cellophane wrapper, announcing that the box set contains the "BRAND-NEW parody" "Headline News." Beginning in 1997, a new sticker announced that the box set "Includes songs featured on the CBS-TV series 'The Weird Al Show.'" (see top right image)
A rare example of a box set being released on both CD and cassette.
An even rarer example of a "Pretty Much Limited Edition" box set being reissued by a new record label. As of February 2006, however, the set had gone out of print.
Later copies have been known to skimp on the number of staples in the booklet or have Al's name printed off-center on the box cover.
In February 2006, it was announced that physical copies of the boxed set had gone out of print after Volcano Entertainment was unable to locate the original packaging and booklet artwork to print more copies, though the entire compilation could still be downloaded online. This marks the first time a title in Al's catalog was turned into a digital-only release.
