Who Can It Be Now
Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog
It's August! It's month #4 in our U.S. petition tour!
We are now past the 3,000 mark on our official signature count. This recent addition puts us past the tally from our last petition drive in 2004, when we had only sent in 2,978 signatures to the Rock Hall Foundation. We are currently ever so close to the one-third point for this year's goal!!!
So far, the majority of response has been overwhelmingly positive (save for one incident in late July that we will go into at the proper time), and we are grateful for everyone who has helped out, either by volunteering to circulate the petition or just signing it!
We've got some great shows coming up in August...Kansas City, Des Moines, a return visit to Glenside (for another sold out show!), and others. We also have two more Ohio dates this month, one in Youngstown on August 17 and a day later at Kings Island in Cincinnati (on somebody's birthday). The folks at the Chevrolet Centre in Youngstown have been unbelievably kind to us, and they're even promoting us right on their web site! How cool is that?!? This will be Al's first show in the area since 2000, so by all means, Youngstownies, order tickets now!
Also here's a heads up to everybody: later this month Cafepress, the product web site we use for all of our campaign gear, will be increasing the price of all double-sided shirts by three dollars. This will most directly affect our tour shirts, which are being offered by the Weird Al Star Fund. If you haven't bought a tour shirt yet and have been meaning to, please do it now before the price goes up. And for volunteers out there, this will affect you guys too, if you know what we mean. We will be offering a few new items in our shops sometime in September, preferably once all new price changes have been set.
And in case it hasn't been clear yet, we need more volunteers everywhere! We still have a little over two-thirds of the way to go still, and we can't do it without you. Please contact us today!
Finally, we wish to extend our sympathies to those affected by the tragic bridge collapse in Minneapolis this week.
