"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog

Entry for October 7, 2020

It's that time of year again....

Even though they've been about as kind to us as a hypochondriac to a leper, the Plain Dealer is again doing the annual Rock Hall readers poll. This year they've brought back both their online ballot and their "write-in" space for said online ballot.

It's time once again to stuff the ballot box with write-in votes for Al!

The poll closes on October 22, so you have plenty of time to flood the poll with votes from you, family, friends, e-mail pals, MySpace friends, and others (note: they will discard duplicate votes from the same person, so be careful when you vote again)! Remember, this poll is just for fun and has no impact on this year's induction choices, but it would still be cool if Al got the most votes!

Like last year, it doesn't look as if the poll is restricted only to readers in NE Ohio, so feel free to be honest with your contact information. You'll most likely be automatically entered into some silly "get two free weeks of the Plain Dealer" sweepstakes or something, since that's what they did last year. There's no way around that...but just make sure you check that you do NOT want to be contacted about future offers from them.

Despite our overwhelming numbers when we vote, every year they ignore mentioning Al as a poll finalist. So let's really show them how much we want Al inducted...vote at the link below!

When you're done, please post a comment here or on our MySpace page so we can get an approximate headcount of about how many votes Al is getting.

We also want to take a moment to note the passing of Bela, Al's gray poodle who is perhaps most famous for appearing on the cover of Al's Grammy-winning 2003 album (what else?) Poodle Hat. Our hearts go out to the Yankovic family.

We're also down to the last few shows on Al's tour. As of October 7, only four concerts still need petition volunteers....

October 9 San Luis Obispo, CA Christopher Cohan Performing Arts Center
October 11 Fresno, CA The Big Fresno Fair
October 13 San Diego, CA House of Blues
October 16 Phoenix, AZ Arizona State Fair

We're getting down to the wire! If you're going to any of the above shows, please volunteer today!

And don't forget to tune in to the Biography Channel Thursday night at 10PM EST for the brand new Biography about Al!

Vote! Volunteer! View!
