"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog

Entry for September 4, 2020

We've been hard at work on something really cool for the campaign (no, not the documentary, but you're close!), but we wanted to take some time out to make a delayed announcement about our latest celebrity supporter. If you've been to our web site in the last couple of weeks, then you already know whom we mean, but still, we wanted to nevertheless formally announce it here as we do everything else.

So from our "Better Late Than Never" department, we are proud beyond words to announce that none other than Ben Folds has lent his help to the campaign! We are so excited about this not only because Ben is such a great musician (both on his own and with the Ben Folds Five) and not only because of the numerous times Ben and Al have collaborated on each other's projects, but also because Ben has expressed a great appreciation for Al's role in rock and roll, which he elaborated on most eloquently on Al's recent episode of A&E's Biography.

We sincerely thank Ben for taking the time to support this campaign!

If you would like to thank Ben yourself, be sure to order a copy of his 2005 album Songs for Silverman, featuring Al singing back-up on the song "Time!" And of course, there's one other release that involves both Al and Ben that you should most definitely grab.

As for that really cool thing we mentioned, keep watching this space in the coming days!
