"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog

Entry for September 30, 2020

So, any big Al news today?

Just kidding. Of course, the big, big news is that on October 7, Al will release a brand new parody single exclusively on iTunes! Like the master showman he is, he's keeping the title and parody source a secret, only to say that it's a recent #1 hit in Billboard. Regardless, we're all waiting on pins and needles and we urge everyone out there to download the song as soon as it's released (we'll provide a link on our web site and MySpace as soon as we can that day). Let's give Al the highest charting single of his career!

Meanwhile, as promised, it's time for our latest campaign project, our annual flooding of the ballots of the Plain Dealer's Rock Hall readers poll! For you newbies out there, this is just something fun that the Rock Hall, and our campaign's, hometown paper, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, does every year to gauge which nominated artists have the commoners' support. It has no bearing on the actual Rock Hall induction, but still it tells the paper (and by proxy the Rock Hall) whom the public wants to see get in.

Originally we were going to list a series of instructions, as the online ballot did not have a "write-in" space, but we're happy to report that all's well now and all you have to do is fill in your name, address, etc., and of course, Al's name in the "Other" space (make sure that line is selected as well!).

Like it is every year, it seems as if the poll is tied to some sort of contest or promotion the Plain Dealer is holding, so if you want to opt out of that and not have the paper bother you, be sure to select "No" for the "Would you like to receive occasional updates..." question. Other than that, the poll is absolutely safe to do, and we wouldn't be linking to it otherwise. Just vote once (or at least once per person in your household) and be honest; no need for fictional characters or fake names to be voting, as it just makes our fan base look bad in the process. Oh, and voting is open to everyone, not just those in Northeast Ohio.

Just go here and vote for Al:

Our efforts got mentions in the paper both in 2003 and 2007, so let's make that annual tradition as well! Please leave a comment here after you've voted, just so we can get a ballpark idea of how many people participated.

Voting goes on through October 10 (wow, what a week Al fans will have!), so don't forget. Vote for Al now!
