"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves." |

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog
This weekend, the Plain Dealer here in Cleveland published the results of this year's unofficial Rock Hall readers poll. For the second year in a row (and third year overall), our efforts earned a mention in the paper!
Metallica won the poll among this year's nominated artists, and naturally that honor was the focal point of the article. But then music writer John Soeder added this....
"Our call for write-in candidates generated outpourings of support for 'Weird Al' Yankovic, Kiss, and the Moody Blues, among others."
Although we may be looking too much into this, but we like to think that Al's name being listed first indicated that he led the write-in vote, similar to last year in which the paper described his write-in victory as a "landslide."
And we also hope that this mention is the first solid step in getting Al's name firmly affixed to that category of "missing but worthy" artists that Kiss and the Moody Blues routinely find themselves in.
You can read the entire article here: http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2008/10/metallica_wins_the_p...
So as we are just barely a week away from Election Day here in the United States (in which we hope everyone out there ba-rocks the vote...HINT HINT), let us celebrate at least one victory we had this year. We didn't secure Al a nomination, but we made it clear that the public wants him in, something we will only reinforce next year with our video documentary.
Speaking of which, do check out our web site in the coming weeks for updates on the production of the video. We're still knee-deep in making it and will most likely post a list of "needs" from fellow fans who want to help out.
In closing, we sincerely thank everyone out there who voted in this year's poll, and do give yourself a pat on the back for the apparent write-in win. It wouldn't have happened without you!
