"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Entry for August 3, 2020

Okay, gang, this is it! The pre-order we've all really, really been waiting for...three years for, in fact! Al's new album, Straight Outta Lynwood, is NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER!

Due September 26, Al's twelfth album will feature twelve brand new songs, including the obligatory parodies of some pretty well known artists (don't worry, this blog entry is spoiler-free!). SOL will be released as a DualDisc, Al's first ever release on the hybrid CD/DVD format, complete with bonus features.

So why pre-order? Well, for one thing, you'll be guaranteed a copy when the album comes out. Even though they ordered deep, many Best Buy and Circuit City stores sold out of their stock of Poodle Hat during its first week of release. If you're instead planning on camping outside your favorite store the morning of the twenty-sixth, hey that's fine too. We'll even try our best to keep track of the newspaper circulars the weekend before to ensure everybody gets the best deal. But still, all Weird Al fans need to do whatever they can to make this Al's most successful new release ever, so if you'd like some insurance that you'll get your copy, pre-order now!

As mentioned, this could potentially be Al's best debut ever. Poodle Hat gave Al his first ever top twenty debut in Billboard at #17. We can top that standing on our heads (if you plan on doing that, please, we want video footage no matter what). Also, Billboard has added two fairly new chart categories in the last several years, "Top Internet Albums" and "Top Comedy Albums." The "Top Internet Albums" chart measures, not surprisingly, online sales. Running With Scissors peaked on that chart at #3. Again, at #3, for cryin' out loud!! This is another big reason why one should pre-order the album online, and it doesn't need to be explained Al's potential on the "Top Comedy Albums" chart. Wouldn't it be great to be partially responsible for getting Al his first ever #1 in Billboard?!?

Al will have a lot of competition on September 26, from Janet Jackson to Brooke Hogan. We need to do everything we can to make Straight Outta Lynwood a huge hit; Al's biggest ever. And as stated in the past, we need to show the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for that matter, that Al is still relevant to popular music and that he can still deliver hit albums over twenty-five years later.

So, are you game? Are you psyched? Are you ready? Well, what are you waiting for? Order Straight Outta Lynwood NOW!!!
