"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog

Entry for September 21, 2020

Well, it's late September, and you know what that means. The nominees for the next class of Rock Hall inductees are late...again. We're getting a little antsy too, as we do every year. If the nominations are not announced tomorrow, as in Friday the 22nd, then this will be the latest they've been announced since 1998 (maybe even longer than that). As always, we'll be on top of the news, good or bad, here at the ol' site as soon as it's announced.

Meanwhile, be sure to check out VH1 or Al's MySpace page for his latest video, "White & Nerdy." A parody of Chamillionaire's smash rap hit "Ridin,'" both the song and video are easily among the funniest of Al's career. Click here to request to see the video on VH1's VSpot Top 20 Video Countdown. If the video isn't on the list, just go to the bottom "wildcard" space, fill it in, move it into the #1 spot on the right, and submit your request. It couldn't be easier.

On Tuesday, Al's twelfth album, Straight Outta Lynwood, will be released as a bonus-filled DualDisc, so be sure to go out and buy a copy or five (click here to pre-order it). On Tuesday evening at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood (on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Highland) Al will be signing copies of the album, so if you're in the area please do check it out. While you're waiting, be on the lookout for Melissa, who represented our campaign during the Weird Al Star Fund benefit concert in April, and Kristine, who won our big art contest last year. They'll both have petition pages with them ready for you--yes, you!--to sign. Where else are you going to be able to buy a brand new Al album, meet the man himself, and help get him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame all at the same time?!?

Speaking of SOL, be sure to check back here on Sunday, when we'll post a list with all the known prices (and sales) various retailers will be offering the album for.

We're less than a week away! Ready to help give Al his biggest hit ever? Well let's do it!!
