"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Entry for September 24, 2020

Okay everyone, here we go. We are less than forty-eight hours away from the release of Al's twelfth album, Straight Outta Lynwood. Already the first two singles, "Don't Download This Song" and "White & Nerdy," are being almost universally praised, while such major publications as Billboard and Jann Wenner's Rolling Stone are using descriptions for the album like "never-less-than-magnificent," "killer," "hilarious," "tremendous," and even "genius!"

Are you ready to help give Al the best-selling album of his career? Are you ready to give him his best chart debut ever? Well, let's do it!

Please look over the following list of prices that most of the major chains are scheduled to offer the album for on Tuesday. All prices are according to the respective stores' web sites or Sunday newspaper circulars (which we've noted). Remember that prices listed in Sunday circulars are usually only a sale price for the first week of release, and most of the big chains (Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) will price-match if you bring in a competing ad offering an item for less.

Click on the store's name to find the location closest to you. And please remember to factor gas prices and driving distance in with your decision.

K-Mart: $11.99 (circular)

ShopKo: $11.99 (circular)

Circuit City: $12.99 (circular)

Sam Goody: $12.99

Best Buy: $13.99 (circular)

Fred Meyer: $13.99 (circular)

FYE: $14.99 (NOTE: This price might just be limited to FYE's web site, as it's also offering an additional $3 mail-in rebate for web customers only)

Wherehouse: $15.98

Coconuts: $18.99

Barnes and Noble: $19.98

Tower Records: $21.99

And as mentioned last time we did this, we should note that Amazon is currently pre-selling the album for $14.88, for those of you who want to guarantee that they will in fact get a copy.

And if you're in the Los Angeles area, don't forget about the album signing with Al at the Virgin Megastore Hollywood on Tuesday evening at 7PM (PST). Melissa and Kristine will be there gathering petition signatures there as well!

This is it, gang! Let's do everything we can to make this one a hit!!!
