"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog

Entry for May 22, 2020

You know what's probably the best Memorial Day weekend activity a family can do together? Why, writing letters to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, of course!

We're still waiting patiently for some new album and tour news (and by the way, we love everyone who comes to visit our site, but if you're looking for new tour or album news, you need to first check out Al's official site...trust me, they'll have the latest scoops!), but in the meantime we have a request for all of our friends out there. June is usually the start of the summer concert season, when all the big acts make the usual trek across the country to promote who knows what. If you're planning on going to ANY concert or stand-up comedy performance this summer, and the artist is related to Al in some way, we need your help!

Specifically we need petition volunteers who can not only be polite but also have no major shyness complexes. We'll go into details with you privately, so just send us an e-mail if you're willing and feeling brave.

Meanwhile, I want to once again plug our friends over at the Weird Al Star Fund. They are so unbelievably close to their goal of $15,000, and the deadline to file star applications for this year is rapidly approaching (I doubt I'll post another blog entry before then, for instance). If you haven't donated to the fund yet, DO SO NOW! Of course, why Al's label isn't offering to donate the remaining $2,000 and change is another question.

Anyway, this week they have a unique auction up on eBay, where the winner will receive their own exclusive commissioned Weird Al cartoon art by fan artist Aron Shay. For those of you who may have forgotten, Aron won the third place prize in our own 2005 art contest, and her work is simply amazing. Our campaign got a mention in the eBay auction, and her contest entry is prominently featured there as well.

The auction page goes into all the details on what the winning bidder will receive. Needless to say, this will provide someone with a pretty cool Weird Al collectible.

Check out the auction now! It ends May 28.
