"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Make the Rock Hall Weird Update Blog

Entry for July 3, 2020

And our petition's three-day reign over the Great Lakes begins! Wisconsin, you're going down! Michigan, you're going to "squish" again! Ohio, ka-BOOM! Wait, scratch that last part.

Anyhoo, tonight both Al's tour and our petition tour will make a stop in ol' Milwaukee, where Al will play the city's Summerfest (which has welcomed Al ever since the first concert tour back in 1983!). Look for Alexis, CindyBob, and lookatthenumbersinIandlaugh and...well, you know, SIGN THE PETITION!

Also, something slightly interesting happened over the weekend, as the really cool Future Rock Hall site posted a list of this year's Rock Hall nominating committee! No, really! The site doesn't cite a source, but we trust the site to know that they wouldn't have posted such information or presented it as such without concrete proof.

As for the names themselves, there aren't exactly any surprises there. There are only thirty-two names on the list, a far cry from the supposed rough estimates of sixty that have been reported in the past. Our old friend Suzan Evans is on there, as is the Rock Hall museum's president Terry Stewart (whom we sent a Christmas card to last year, as seen in our widely circulated YouTube video), among other recognizable names.

One peculiar addition to the list is famed LA Times music critic Robert Hilburn, who memorably told us a couple of years ago that he didn't see a news story in Rock Hall campaigns like ours. Sounds almost like someone has a slight conflict of interest there, doesn't it?

Oh well. We'll be putting together mailings for everyone on that list, hopefully to send out sometime in July or early August.

In the meantime, we need more petition volunteers, so contact us today!

There are two ways to sign the petition....

1. Go to one of the Al concerts where we'll have volunteers and sign it there.

2. Contact us through e-mail and we can get you set up with the petition.
