"Weird Al used music videos brilliantly. His parodies of both Michael Jackson and Madonna were even more memorable than the original videos themselves."

Entry for September 10, 2006
We are just a little over two weeks away from the release of Al's twelfth album, Straight Outta Lynwood, which will be out in the United States on September 26. We need to do everything we can to help make this yet another huge hit for Al, and really the only way we can do that is to buy the album. As we did for The Weird Al Show: The Complete Series, the weekend before the album's release we'll post a list compiling all the prices the various major chains will be selling the album for (including whatever sales a store may be offering). If you'd instead like to skip going to a physical store, then by all means PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM NOW!

The album's first single, the original "Don't Download This Song," is currently available in a variety of places, as is the video by animation legend and Oscar nominee Bill Plympton. You can listen to the song at Al's own MySpace page, you can request to hear it on The Dr. Demento Show, or you can go to the song's web site.

Speaking of animated videos of original songs, a brand new one will premiere on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim's Robot Chicken on September 24 at 11:30PM (EST), so set your VCRs, DVRs, TiVos, BitTorrents, Kinescopes, bug-catching nets, or whatever else you may use to record television programs. And of course, these animated videos will be included on the DVD portion of Straight Outta Lynwood.

Speaking of Straight Outta Lynwood, on September 26 Al will be appearing at the Virgin Megastore in Hollywood (6801 Hollywood Blvd., Suite 105) at 7PM (PST) for an album signing. We have an urgent plea for any Southern Californian fans who are planning to attend: If you would like to represent the campaign as a petition volunteer, please contact us as soon as possible!!!

Finally, with a new album release comes the obligatory media appearances, so if you would like to see Al on your favorite talk show to promote the album, use the following links to request to see him:

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Jimmy Kimmel Live

Last Call with Carson Daly

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson

Late Night with Conan O'Brien

Late Show with David Letterman

Saturday Night Live

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

So please help out and do what you can to help make SOL a hit. We don't want Al to be another kind of SOL.
